It's hard to follow that. I think he's still the president, I think he's still gonna be the president. Yeah, we know. You know the media's not fooling anybody, it's probably gonna be a landslide." Love Lou! We miss him.
Don’t understand him yet as only 29 pages high rise. I know he’s intelligent. But glad to listen to him and find
People dont understand .the impact of things in child🎉hood. Really does cut deepn
Ask him about being a TA paratrooper ,to be more "windswept".its very interesting.
Mark didn’t just live with his contradictions he exploited the fuck out of them. Brilliant.
The bible is a magical library that spans centuries it consists of poetry prophecy various values and laws spaning a host of cultures and so on The Koran is unique in that there is nothing like it in all of Arabic literature but it feels and fits in perfectly. Very much like the fall!
Are you sure that he's that writer, he looked differently in other vids.
for 40 years have evyone piss one mee, i like the sound, an the Text
Great Interview.
Did he just say ugly society religious mad more hepocritcal than the British and everyone is disappointed with his life for a reason or another
Foot was a Soviet agent.
Is it just me or does Callaghan just radiate grandad energy?
RIP Robert Fisk...True hero of journalism
cheers for this x
Lou is an a-hole and thinks more about his music than most everyone.
He fulfilled his own prophecy about ageing writers with ‘Yellow Dog’
good grief, imagine a nation of (largely middle class, largely Southern) people on their way to work listening to Mark E. Smith coming out of their radios
I was once outside Piccadilly Station listening to a busker when Smith and his entourage suddenly appeared and in full on argument mode. Smith stopped arguing with his entourage and said to the busker" Hey, your a pretty good guitarist do you want to play guitar in The Fall"? and the busker replied "NO"!, and Smith replied "Why not" and the busker said " Well, because your crap and I cant stand your whining and moaning" There was a bit of alcohol assisted arguing by Smith but the busker just got on with his next song and sounded Smith out. I and a few others were pissing ourselves laughing.
Is this nardwaur near the end?
"drop it ya c-" 😂
Wonder what he thought about Trump
Amis? He wrote/spoke about him quite a bit, mate.
Well, you can’t be right about everything
Lionel Asbo really was a stinker, as were most of his later books.
*'Captain Beefheart ... of course'. Why 'of course', Mr. Peel. They aren't that brilliant. Just cause Lydon gave them a nod, doesn't make them the band to the Holy Land. They're actually quite naff ... if people would be honest about them*
I met him
He's hammered in almost every interview. One can only imagine how tedious it was to be in his company.
I hung out with Mark 4 or 5 times over the years our paths crossed and we always had a good laugh together, there was never ANY 'rockstar' BS with Mark......He just couldn't stand music journo's and their faddish pretensions (So the interviews are often stilted with a thinly disguised animosity.....Lol)
@@zetetick395 Fair enough. But alcoholics/people who are nearly always drunk are a drag.
Does anyone know if smith is related to former snooker star, Alex Higgins?
I've been saying this since about 1983
I think that guy with the handlebar moustache behind him is his police bodyguard.
Fortunatley, Jesus has nothing to do with socail justice.
Seen The Fall and Mark Smith more than any other band . Deeply Vale free festival... What an honest ,switched on guy... He had Charisma. He had crazy lyrics. He was a genuine original individual. Live at the witch trials is up there with the best... Very funny guy. Very intelegant. Pushed the boundaries of music. Band on the wall. Etc etc. He was a real great frontman. Really spontaneous. Can't say enough good things. David Fielding. Love to all. Xx
My wife and I were treated to our first visit to Liverpool by our sons for our silver wedding anniversary years ago being big Beatles fans….we were booking in at the Adelphi. And this man was in front of us just booking in…the receptionist asked his name and the reply boomed out. GEORGE MELLY 😊
When was the last time fiction was usefully dangerous? Shouldn't there always be at the very least someone, somewhere writing truly dangerous fiction?
He really reminds me of Blixa Bargeld of Einstürzende Neubauten - not just looks but mannerisms. I wonder if either inspired the other.
Can you imagine any celebrated writer today allowing themselves to be filmed doing their morning ablutes in all their glory?
My favorite novel by Martin Amis.
His comment on morrisey is worth this docs weight in gold,,perfick! I hung in the same pubs, drank with his band mates in prestwich, red lion, church etc, saw him from afar, close but never met…didn’t even know him, what a missed chance, still kick me-self for not saying hello an takin me chance…am told we would have defo got along, see ya mark, cheers for the endless fun xox
This is a film created by a big black spider that crawls into your brain.
Thing is john, mark released a groundbreaking album ever fucking fortnight. You on the other hand havent released one since 1986.
"I'm wired, totally wired" There isn't anything else to say is there, what could anyone add to that lyric that could improve it.
Describing the BBC coming to Manchester as 'the mountain coming to Mohammed' is the best thing I have ever heard
Whopper lydon.. always different always the same. How the fk can u compare the cramps and the fall ? Lydon had 1 good album with S.P. the fall got rid of new fans they didnt want on purpose by lauching the odd extreme leftfield jobby.
The Queens pub in Primrose Hill at the end
A writer is someone who has never graduated from adolescents
Adolescence, you pillock.
No 1 in New Zealand because we don't take any shit, e hoa. Hex Induction Hour 1982
Such an AMAZING film, just watched it last night and loved it.
I was also breast fed and believe it's great all natural I don't remember what it taste like but looks good.
This is like a real life black lodge moment.
This interview was handled right. Lou is actually acting alright.
The 100 Club? According to George's own account in Owning Up, his first efforts as a performer were in far less prestigious venues. But never mind! It was a great tag-line for the publicity.
I thank God, I walked the Earth the same time as Lou Reed.
